Updates about the Case

- The Austrian citizenship granted to Panos and Hratch Nahabedian in 1992 was revoked by the Vienna Regional Government, Municipal Department 35, on the grounds that they had obtained it fraudulently by providing false identities and documents. The defendants' appeals against this decision were rejected. The defendants therefore no longer hold Austrian citizenship. Their extradition to Lebanon is nevertheless inadmissible.
- The public prosecutor office exempts Hratch Nahabedian from prosecution. At the time of the crime, he was younger than 21 years old, and Austrian criminal law provides for a statute of limitations of 20 years for murder, which began with the final conclusion of the proceedings in Lebanon in 1995 and ended in 2015.
- An indictment issued against Panos Nahabedian (alias George Mazbanian) from the Vienna Public prosecutor office, for assassination and aggravated robbery on the date of July 9, 2025. The main hearing’s date was fixed on october 7, 2025.
- A few days before the main hearing in Vienna, the Court decided to suspend the proceedings and give a break of 24 months to Panos who brought a psychiatric report describing himself as depressive.
